About Peegeo's

First... the past

With its sparkling water, abundant wildlife and comfortable distance from the bustle of Traverse City, our forest lakes area has long been a fine place to call home, as well as a choice destination for seasonal visitors.

Much of the area surrounding these beautiful lakes was once owned by Perry Hannah, one of Traverse City’s founding fathers, who acquired it for the purpose of removing timber.  The land became populated with recreational users in the late 1800’s and throughout the 1900’s in increasing numbers.  It seems once people visit here they are drawn back again and again to enjoy the many active resorts and family cottages nestled among the lakes.

Peegeo’s was founded in 1983 by a guy who quit a real job and had no clue how to make pizza. The pizza was pretty darn good so George started frying fish and flipping burgers too.  As the area grew and word spread, more and more people started stopping by to eat, or to have a cup of coffee and a helping of whatever guff George was handing out that day.  35 years have brought many changes to Peegeo’s including a full bar, an outdoor deck, a hall for meetings and parties, even a fire truck that will cater your event. What hasn’t changed is the comfortable, upbeat atmosphere and the fun you’re likely to run into when you’re here.

We hope you’ll find that in this little corner of northern Michigan and here at Peegeo’s, you are only a visitor once; thereafter you’ll return as a prized friend.
